UFC: Cathal Pendred Starts Irish Takeover With Win

The Irish takeover of the UFC continued this evening with Cathal Pendred overcoming a resilient Gasan Umalatov challenge.

The SBG fighter earned the victory thanks to a split decision during the UFC Fight Night 53 preliminary card. In what was a battle of attrition, both fighters traded blows and it was unclear who the judges would favour.

Luckily for Pendred, the judges scored the fight 29-29, 28-29, 29-28 in favour of the Dubliner.

Gunnar Nelson is on later tonight as he headlines the Stockholm event, while Paddy ‘The Hooligan’ Holohan is in action in Nova Scotia in the early hours.

Check out the previews to both fights here as the Irish look to make it three out of three.
