UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is set to return to the octagon at UFC 242 as he takes on Dustin Poirier in Abu Dhabi in August for the undisputed 155lb crown.
Khabib hasn’t fought since defending his title against Conor McGregor in October via a fourth-round submission thanks to a suspension he received for jumping over the cage and attacking members of the Notorious One’s team.
His opponent, Poirier has been on a hot streak as of late and picked up arguably the biggest win of his career in April as he defeated 145lb champion Max Holloway by decision to clinch the interim lightweight title.
Before that, The Diamond had defeated a murderer’s row of lightweight contenders including Justin Gaethje, Eddie Alvarez and Anthony Pettis to cement himself as a major contender in the division.
The pair will square off at the The Arena on Yas Island on September 7th, but before that, they will take part in their first media press conference in London which begins at 3 pm Irish time.
