UFC welterweight Darren Till has reportedly been arrested whilst on holiday in Tenerife for “stealing a taxi and trashing a hotel”
Till, who recently lost to Jorge Masvidal in the main event of UFC London, is said to have been stopped by police after jumping in the taxi and speeding off as the driver put his luggage in the boot.
According to Tenerife publication El Dia, Till was with a friend of his when they were stopped by police after the taxi driver raised the alarm.
They also report that Till was one of a group of five people who had previously been kicked out of an unnamed hotel for smashing up furniture and emptying fire extinguishers.
El Dia understands that the group had tried to get into another hotel but were turned away and the taxi driver arrived to pick them up. The arrests are said to have happened in the early hours of Thursday morning, with the police reportedly unavailable for comment.
The news comes as another disappointment for Till who was recently defeated by Jorge Masvidal in the main event of UFC London.
Till had been looking to bounce back from the first defeat of his career to Tyron Woodley, but was stopped in spectacular fashion by the welterweight veteran Masvidal.
Had Till won, he was slated to fight the UFC’s newest star Ben Askren, however defeat meant that Masvidal was rewarded with that bout which will take place at UFC 239 in July.
