Cowboy Urges McGregor To ‘Sign The Damn Deal’ Ahead Of Potential Bout

Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone has urged Conor McGregor to ‘sign a deal’ to fight him in what would be The Notorious One’s first bout since his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov last year.

McGregor outlined last week that he was planning three fights in 2020 and despite not naming any opponents, Cerrone along with fellow lightweight contender Justin Gaethje are both thought to be in the conversation according to ESPN.

Cerrone is coming off the back of two defeats to the aforementioned Gaethje and Tony Ferguson, but speaking to TMZ Sports, ‘Cowboy’ outlined that he is confident a fight between he and the former two-weight world champion can happen.

“I think it’s going to happen this time, I really do. Conor is really serious about making a comeback.”

The pair had been rumoured to be squaring off this past summer but McGregor shut the idea down after the UFC wanted to have the fight as a co-main event instead of a main event.

Cerrone and McGregor are two of the biggest names in the sport and a bout between them would be a tremendously exciting prospect for fight fans around the world.

Despite it falling through in the summer, Cerrone outlined that he is confident of re-kindling a potential fight between the two in 2020.

“I think Conor’s side and our team have both reached out and are trying to figure it out,” Cerrone said. “Looking good, though.

“This is going to be a huge fight, a huge money-maker. I don’t understand why UFC wouldn’t want to be engaged in it. Conor would be pumped on it, I’m pumped on it. It’s the fight everyone wants to watch. He’s the best in the business at talking sh-t, so it should be fun. We’ll see how crazy he gets. It’s gonna be a fun fight. He’s a great fighter.”

Cerrone finished by sending a message to McGregor as he urged him to sign the deal and get the wheels in motion for a fight between the the pair.

“Sign the damn deal, let’s get this done,” Cerrone said.
