Conor McGregor Issues “MMA Exhibition Bout” Challenge To Tenshin

Anything Floyd Mayweather can do, Conor McGregor can do better. That seems to be the sentiment of the Notorious One, following Floyd’s New Years Eve victory over Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa.

The 50-0 fighter challenged Nasukawa to an exhibition bout at the Rizin 14 show in Japan last week and handily dispatched of the hometown hero inside two minutes of their three round fight, looking comfortable and confident on his way to victory.

Not to be outdone by his old adversary, McGregor took to Twitter on Sunday night to issue a challenge to the Japanese kickboxer, outlining that he wishes to fight him “before this summer.”

The former featherweight and lightweight champion explained that he wants the fight to be a “mixed martial arts exhibition bout” although the manner of his call-out certainly appears to be more in jest than anything else.

McGregor would surely enjoy getting one up on Mayweather, whom the Crumlin native lost to in his professional boxing debut in August 2017 in Las Vegas.

Although rumours of a rematch with current lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov continue to swirl around it is unknown yet as to what McGregor’s next move will be.

It will all also depend on the length of the suspension that the Nevada State Athletic Commission hand down to McGregor following his involvement in the post-fight brawl between his and Khabib’s camp at UFC 229.
