Report: Artem Lobov Gets New Opponent For UFC Moncton

SBG fighter Artem Lobov has reportedly been given a new opponent for UFC Moncton following the withdrawal of Zubaira Tukhugov.

According to TheMacLife Lobov will now face 17-10 perennial lightweight contender Michael Johnson who recently made the move down to featherweight where he has a 1-1 record.

Lobov’s previous opponent Tukhugov was pulled from the UFC Moncton card last week following his involvement in the post-UFC 229 brawl, where he leapt into the Octagon to attack Conor McGregor following the main event.

The Russian Hammer has not fought in the UFC since his unanimous decision loss to Andre Fili last October, the same man Johnson defeated by split decision in August.

Although Johnson has looked like he lacks power at 145lbs the fight still represents a very tough task for Lobov, with The Menace having notable victories over the likes of Dustin Poirier and Tony Ferguson on his resumé.

Bantamweight contender Marlon Moraes had offered to step in and fight Lobov after questioning the UFC’s decision to punish Tukhugov for his attack on McGregor but it looks as though Johnson is the opponent that the UFC have chosen.

Tukhugov is, of course, a teammate of Khabib Nurmagomedov who took to social media to defend his friend last week outlining that if the UFC fired him, then the current lightweight champion would leave as well.
