Richard Kiely is set to face English mixed-martial-arts star, Michael ‘Venom’ Page, in the co-main event when Bellator makes its return to Dublin in September.
Kiely returns to Dublin’s 3Arena after making his Bellator debut in the same venue five months ago where he made the perfect start under the promotion, knocking out Mickael Bucher in the very first round.
The SBG fighter has become an Irish fan favourite thanks to his exciting kickboxing style coupled his with his brash nature when given the spotlight and he has now been rewarded with what is most definitely the toughest fight of his career to date against the 14-1 Page.
Speaking to the Irish Daily Mirror, Kiely revealed he plans to shock the MMA world in September and take MVP’s place as Bellator’s ‘poster boy’.
“I know for a fact that he [MVP] doesn’t realise what he’s got himself into,” Kiely said.
“When this fight happens and I knock him out, I’m going to shock the MMA world and take his place.
“I’ve said since I started in this promotion that I am the face of Bellator, and this is going to prove it.
“He’s the poster boy for Bellator so he’s getting knocked out and they’re getting a much, much more handsome face for their company.”
The Tallaght native’s match-up with the Londoner will act as the co-main event alongside the meeting of James Gallagher and Cal Ellenor.
It’s a huge step up for Kiely who spoke with Pundit Arena ahead of his Bellator debut back in February claiming that he was about to become ‘the face of Bellator’.
If the SBG fighter can score a huge victory over MVP and move his record to 5-1 then he may just become the face of the organisation.
Bellator Dublin goes down at the 3Arena on September 27.
