Conor McGregor Named Among Highest-Paid Celebrities For 2019

Conor McGregor has been named in the annual Forbes 100 highest-paid celebrities list.

The Dubliner placed at No. 65 in the highly coveted list with earnings of €47M in total. McGregor earned an estimated €32M for his UFC 229 comeback fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov, which he subsequently lost via fourth-round submission.

The disclosed purse for October’s fight was €3M, however, with the event taking in 2.4 million pay-per-view buys, McGregor made substantially more when it was all said and done.

The other €15M is made up of endorsements with the Irishman recently signing a new deal with Reebok worth €5M per year. As well as this, McGregor has brought in considerable profits from the sale of his Proper No. 12 whiskey, which was launched late last year.

Last month, the Crumlin native was named among the highest-paid athletes in the world for the fourth year in a row having become the first mixed-martial-arts athlete ever to crack the top 100 in 2016. However, he took a considerable fall compared to last year where McGregor came in at No. 12 following his super fight with Floyd Mayweather.

This list, however, encompasses a wider and far more expansive pool with celebrities from movies, television, music and other industries included.

McGregor came in at No. 65 in the list, however, four athletes did indeed break into the top ten with soccer stars, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronald and Neymar placing at fourth, sixth and seventh respectively while boxer, Canelo Alvarez sneaked in at tenth place.

Conor McGregor wasn’t the only Irish athlete to break the top 100 with golf star, Rory McIlroy, placing at No. 92 on the list with total earnings of €39M split between €8M in prize money alongside €31M in endorsements.
