The UFC and ONE Championship are close to a major trade deal which would be the first of its kind, according to reports.
According to ESPN, the proposed deal would see the UFC release former flyweight champion, Demetrious Johnson, allowing him to sign with ONE. In return, former welterweight champion, Ben Askren would join the UFC.
Sources say the trade is close to being finalised after multiple discussions. Both Johnson and Askren have a number of fights remaining on their respective contracts.
Johnson (27-3-1) lost the flyweight title to Henry Cejudo in August, ending his 13-fight winning streak, as well his record-breaking 11-fight successful title defence streak.
Askren took to Twitter on Monday to say that there was a 98 percent chance of him joining the UFC, despite multiple spats with Dana White in the past.
