With Tony Ferguson currently on a ten-fight win streak, the 155 lbs Interim Champion certainly isn’t lacking in confidence….
With the MMA world waiting for Conor McGregor to confirm his UFC comeback, all signs are now pointing towards a title unification showdown with Tony Ferguson.
With nine wins in a row in the 155 lbs division, ‘El Cucuy’ was booked to take on the in-form Kevin Lee for the Interim Lightweight title at UFC 216. Although Ferguson struggled at points early in the contest, he eventually emerged victorious, stopping Lee with a triangle choke in the third round.
However, footage has now emerged showing that the self-proclaimed boogeyman was oozing confidence throughout the contest, even roaring abuse at his opponent in between rounds.
Hype for a Ferguson and McGregor showdown is now at an all-time high with UFC President Dana White recently announcing that it was not only the only fight that makes sense, it’s the fight that ‘has to happen’.
‘No [It won’t be Nate Diaz]. Tony Ferguson. Tony Ferguson just won the interim title and Conor McGregor has the 155 lbs title so, that fight is the fight that makes sense. It’s the fight that has to happen.’
