Tony Ferguson interests Khabib Nurmagomedov with UFC proposition

Khabib Nurmagomedov seems to interested in competing with Tony Ferguson.

Tony Ferguson vs Khabib Nurmagomedov is probably the biggest fight that never was. It seemed like Ferguson was the only one who could have dethroned Nurmagomedov with his unorthodox style back when they were supposed to face off but unfortunately, it never came to be.

With multiple different dates eyed up, injuries and health concerns kept getting in the way until Nurmagomedov finally retired after the passing of his father.

Ferguson, however, might have found a way for the two to compete in the UFC that doesn’t involve Nurmagomedov having to fight without his father.

The Ultimate Fighter

The Ultimate Fighter has dropped in popularity in recent years but when Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington were supposed to host it, it looked like the show could make a comeback.

That didn’t happen however and Julianna Pena and Amanda Nunes stepped in instead.

While they might have a score that needs to be settled, the show won’t have a massive comeback without a big name rivalry which is where Tony Ferguson comes in.

“I believe that when Khabib Nurmagomedov’s dad said that we were supposed to compete, I believe that,” said Ferguson on The MMA Hour.

“I would love to be able to coach against him on The Ultimate Fighter. How about that?

“Best man wins on the team. I guarantee my coaching is a lot better than yours Khabib.

“It doesn’t matter what game we play, it would be cool to go out there, shake the dude’s hand, squash some beef and move on.”

While it isn’t quite the same as a fight between the two, the opportunity could provide some form of closure to a story fans wish could have ended differently.

“Tony I like the idea about TUF, call your bosses and let them make an offer, but if they don’t have ideas, I myself will offer you a deal on the Eagle Fight Club platform, we doing some business here you know,” Nurmagomedov tweeted.
