Stipe Miocic proved yet again at UFC 211 that he is currently the baddest man on the planet.
The heavyweight ranks of the UFC are a perilous residence at the best of times. Title changes are frequent, with no one man being able to emulate the likes of Demetrious Johnson and Joanna Jedrzejczyk, due to the power and/or submission threat that each contender possesses.
Miocic, however, is dispatching the best that the division has to offer, and is doing it in disturbing fashion.
The 34-year-old’s latest victim was former champion Junior Dos Santos, who himself has a victory over Miocic from their fight of the year candidate in 2014. That five round war could not be more contrasted from Saturday night’s demolition job in Dallas, Texas.
It took the Cleaveland hero just 2 minutes and 22 seconds to fend off the Brazilian, who’s noted boxing made this such a mouthwatering rematch. The similarly heavy-handed Miocic pressed forward in the early going, backing up ‘Cigano’ along the fence, which allowed him to get off the stinging attacks that brought him the world title.
Stipe stayed patient and scored damage before clocking his foe with a vicious overhand right to finish the bout.
