Watch: Conor McGregor Pays Tribute To Young Fan Paralysed After Accident

Conor McGregor was on his best behaviour at the 3Arena in his first visit since the Bellator incident last year.

On that occasion, the Dubliner leapt over the cage and got into altercations with both referee Marc Goddard and a Bellator official.

His return to support teammates such as Blaine O’Driscoll and Kiefer Crosbie (who were both victorious) at BAMMA 35 was much more positive however, as SGB Ireland had a great night of results.

One striking image was that of McGregor sitting at ringside along with young Ian O’Connell.

O’Connell appeared on The Late Late Show with Ryan Tubridy the previous night, to recount an unfortunate accident which saw him paralysed from the neck down.

His positive attitude endeared the 15-year-old to all lucky enough to watch, including McGregor himself.

The former two-weight UFC champion took to Instagram to heap praise upon his new friend, with O’Connell visibly overwhelmed at meeting one of his heroes.

Watching the Late Late show last night and on comes this young man @ianoconnell321! I was blown away by him and his attitude to life and in facing adversity! Truly blown away! Then tonight, by complete chance, I bumped into him at an event and end up getting to watch the main event fight ringside with him! What a night! Thank you Ian it was great to meet you my brother, you are some man!
Your quote literally blew me away! “If you can’t stand up, STAND OUT!” What a legend!
I think I speak for every Irish man and woman that watched you on the Late Late show last night by saying you are a true inspiration to us!
Thank you brother ❤️
