Demetrious Johnson was due to defend his 125lb. belt against Wilson Reis on July 30.
Another day, another UFC championship title fight ravaged by circumstance. Following the Conor McGregor/UFC 200 debacle, Daniel Cormier’s withdrawal from UFC 197, Chris Weidman’s injury forcing him off UFC 199 and the general Jon Jones-related unpleasantness in recent days, Dana White could be forgiven for attempting to pull his hair out.
Combate of Brazil first broke the unfortunate news that ‘Mighty Mouse’ was forced to withdraw from his title defence due to injury, with Ariel Helwani confirming the report.

Johnson was riding a ten fight winning streak, with his storming win over Olympic gold medallist Henry Cejudo in April garnering him praise as a pound-for-pound contender.
Though further details of the extent and nature of the injury are not yet forthcoming, Johnson revealed to his Twitch followers (via Reddit user snackies) that he is indeed injured and has already spent two weeks in rehab.
The event is still set to be headlined by welterweight duo Robbie Lawler and Tyron Woodley, with the former putting his 170lb. strap on the line.
