In just his third professional fight, Richard Kiely will have a chance to earn some championship gold on home soil.
The SBG fighter is 2-0 in the professional ranks, having turned pro just last December. Two impressive knockout victories over Keith McCabe and Daniel Olejniczak at BAMMA 27 and 30 respectively have caught the eye, particularly that of BAMMA welterweight champion Alex Lohore.
Following his vicious knockout (below) of Nathan Jones in London earlier this month, Lohore called out Kiely in his post-fight interview, as the two subsequently went back and forth on Twitter.
A chance to settle the bad blood will now come on November 10 at the 3 Arena in Dublin for BAMMA 32, as reported by Severe MMA.
“In the space of 1 year and in 2 fights I’ve done what most fighters haven’t done in a career and that’s main event the 3Arena for the BAMMA world title.” Kiely told Severe.
“After LaWhores chinectomy and belt removal I still expect him to thank me for making him relevant. “KIELY, BOMA YE”. Signed, The Face of BAMMA and New world champion ?.”
It’s certainly a remarkable berth given his career is still in its infancy.
This title shot is of course dependent on the two combatants making it to the cage on fight night. Taking the bad blood and Kiely’s fiery nature (high-kicking opponents at weigh-ins, for example) into consideration, it’s not a guarantee the the duo won’t throw down before the scheduled bout.
