Dana White Provides Grave Updates On Situations Of Conor McGregor And Artem Lobov

The consequences of today’s dramatic bus attack at the Barclays Centre are already apparent.

If you haven’t heard by now, Conor McGregor, presumably taking umbrage to Khabib Nurmagomedov’s treatment of his teammate and close friend Artem Lobov during a recent run-in at the venue, threw objects at a bus containing not only Khabib, but also many of the fighters participating at this weekend’s UFC 223.

It’s not clear if McGregor himself was responsible for shattering one of the bus windows that caused an injury to one of the passengers, but his involvement had led to an unprecedented situation as far as the UFC is concerned. Initial reports claimed that UFC President Dana White proclaimed that McGregor was “in jail” and “done”. Though understandably a theatrical statement, White’s expansion on said quote in speaking to the media suggests that it was not hyperbole.

Per Brett Okamoto of ESPN, the legal ramifications are clear.

“He’s going to be sued beyond belief”, White stated also. “This was a bad career move.”

Lightweight Michael Chiesa, who was scheduled to fight Anthony Pettis in Brooklyn, suffered a laceration during the fracas and is currently being treated in hospital, with his fight now in jeopardy.

Artem Lobov, who was set to face Alex Cacares on the undercard, has been pulled from the event per Mike Bohn of MMAJunkie, having been part of the crew that attacked the fighter’s bus.

What started as a misguided attempt to stand up for a friend has led to what easily looks to be the biggest mistake that Conor McGregor has made yet.
