Dana White “Doesn’t See How Conor McGregor Can Win” At UFC 196

The UFC president has made the extraordinary claim ahead of Conor McGregor and Rafael Dos Anjos’ title fight at UFC 196 next month.

White and commentator Joe Rogan have an infamous hype-battle before each pay-per-view which previews the night’s upcoming fights. Both on and off the air, White usually does his best to play up the chances of both fighters whenever asked.

In speaking to FOX’s ‘The Buzzer’ though, the company boss says he doesn’t give Conor McGregor a chance against the ‘animal’ that is Rafael Dos Anjos.

Reebok and UFC Announce Long-Term Partnership

“I don’t see how he wins this fight”, White admitted.

“He’s [Conor] the 145lb. champion, he can stay right in his own lane. He’s moving up to 155 to take on an animal, who destroyed Cowboy Cerrone and Anthony Pettis.

This isn’t like boxing where you’re moving up two or three pounds – you move up 15 pounds.”

Although most likely a ploy to hype up the fight by adding to the ‘animal’ narrative, White’s comments won’t help ongoing speculation surrounding his relationship with the Irishman.

As for the fight, Conor McGregor is now a slight favourite with the bookmakers, at a general 8/11 (with the Brazilian at 11/10 across the board). Upon the announcement of the fight last month, Dos Anjos was installed as the razor-thin favourite to defend his crown. (Odds via oddschecker)
