Conor McGregor is slated to fight at the blockbuster UFC 200 pay-per-view on July 9 according to UFC President Dana White.
The lack of a medical suspension following Conor’s second-round loss to Nate Diaz at UFC 196 sees him targeting a return to the Octagon as soon as possible.
“He wants to fight again as soon as possible,” White told ESPN’s Russillo and Kanell show.
“He wants to jump back in there, and he wants to fight again. We’re working on who the next opponent will be.”
“In this business, it has to burn. It has to be a desire inside you to fight. Conor McGregor is a perfect example. This guy’s going to turn around and fight on [UFC ] 200 again. If you don’t have that desire you simply shouldn’t fight.”
Attention now turns to the opponent. The current front-runners are a rematch with Jose Aldo, who was quick to taunt McGregor after the loss to Nate Diaz at UFC 196, or a defence against former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar.
