‘Cyborg’ Santos Puts The UFC And Conor McGregor On Blast

Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos spoke to MMA Fighting ahead of his ex-wife’s UFC debut this weekend, and isn’t a fan of stars such as Ronda Rousey and Conor McGregor.

Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino faces Leslie Smith at a 140lb. catchweight this weekend at UFC 198 in Brazil, but her ex and MMA veteran Santos fears for her future at the world’s biggest MMA promotion.

With Justino usually campaigning at 145lbs. – a division yet to exist in the ranks of the UFC, Santos is cynical of their motives.

“The UFC doesn’t want her there,” Santos warned.

“They put Cris there because fans demanded it, but they don’t want her there. If they truly wanted her, they would have created her weight division. They opened a division they knew she would never be able to fight at. If they say ‘we want 100 girls for a 145-pound division’, they would get it immediately. They know she would overshadow their plans with Ronda.”

The two women were set on a collision-course for years, and the timing of Justino’s arrival at the UFC put paid to the prospect of the biggest fight in the brief history women’s MMA, following Rousey’s loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193 last year.

“If they really wanted the best female fighters, Cris should be the first one they signed but they boycotted her. Ronda is their biggest moneymaker. She got knocked out but will fight for the belt again, while [Jose] Aldo won’t get his rematch after years as champion. I don’t think that’s good for the sport. It’s all about money, and they don’t care about the fighter.”

Aldo, of course, suffered a KO loss to the UFC’s other cash cow in Conor McGregor, who Santos also doesn’t think much of. Seeing the Irishman as representative of the ‘sport destroying’ UFC, Santos, a veteran of Strikeforce and PRIDE, claims he never had any interest in joining them, such was his repulsion.

“They treat fighters like dogs to promote their events and make money. They only promote [Conor] McGregor, this piece of shit. Cris is a warrior who never gives up, but these douchebags in the UFC spent years making fun of her. The UFC is full of douchebags. The way they treat fighters is ridiculous. I never wanted to fight in the UFC. They are destroying the sport.”
