Conor McGregor Releases Defiant Statement In Wake Of Crushing Loss

The UFC featherweight champion is taking the right attitude to his loss to Nate Diaz at UFC 196 this morning.

While he acknowledged that Nate Diaz got the better of him in their titanic welterweight clash, Conor McGregor called out Rafael Dos Anjos and Jose Aldo for their putdowns on Twitter after his loss.

McGregor was originally scheduled to face Dos Anjos at the same event, before the lightweight champion pulled out with less than two weeks to fight-night with a foot injury.

His compatriot Jose Aldo did likewise with a rib injury prior to UFC 189 last July. The two subsequently met at UFC 194 in December where McGregor triumphed in just 13 seconds.

Dos Anjos said the Irishman was lucky that he pulled out, while Aldo requested a rematch and borrowed a favourite insult of McGregors.

“Aldo you are a pussy. Dos anjos you are a pussy.
When the history books are written, I showed up. You showed up on Twitter.”

While disconsolate at the post-event press conference and during the myriad of interviews which he would usually relish in the midst of his 15 fight unbeaten streak, ‘The Notorious’ was able to view an uncertain future with more optimism after some reflection.

“I’ll take this loss like a man. I will not shy away from it. I will not change who I am. I’ve been here many times in my life in some form or another. I’ll eat it all and come back stronger.”

“Shit happens.”

I stormed in and put it all on the line. I took a shot and missed. I will never apologize for taking a shot.Shit…
