One of the top prospects in MMA today, Zabit Magomedsharipov, has signed a new contract with the UFC and is being looked at for Yair Rodriguez’s next fight.
All title-winning performances aside, UFC 223’s most memorable moment undoubtedly came from the featherweight clash between Zabit Magomedsharipov and Kyle Bochniak, a fight that paired supreme technical ability up against incredible gutsiness and heart.
Magomedsharipov had all of the hype coming in after winning his first two fights in the promotion and while his opponent Bochniak was never seen as an easy fight, he wasn’t exactly expected to give the Russian too many problems. And for a lot of the fight, he didn’t. Zabit’s technical striking made a massive difference from the get-go and it really did appear as though he was going to take home the win in comfortable fashion but somehow, Bochniak summoned up a near-inhuman level of resilience and toughness to walk through his opponent’s punches and make it a brutal war.
According to reports made by MMAFighting, Magomedsharipov has signed a new deal with the promotion.

Furthermore, it looks as though he is being lined up for a matchup with the featherweight prospect Yair Rodriguez, who hasn’t been seen in action since being mauled to a doctor’s stoppage by Frankie Edgar at UFC 211, is actively looking for a comeback fight and with him now potentially looking at a showdown with the featherweight division’s other top prospect, expect big things on this front over the coming weeks.
