The Cuban powerhouse and former-Olympian Yoel Romero has been signed for the UFC’s next trip to Orlando, Florida.
One of the most terrifying athletes in the history of the UFC is apparently making his return in February.
Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting reported first that the UFC has signed the former-interim title challenger to face off against the veteran David Branch at UFC on FOX 28 on February 24.
Yoel Romero vs. Dave Branch is scheduled for the 2/24 event in Orlando, sources say. Three-round fight. More at @MMAFighting shortly.

The UFC later confirmed the report to be accurate.
Romero, who turned 40 last April, still hasn’t as much mileage in the sport of MMA as one would assume and despite his undeniable credentials given his background as an Olympic silver medalist in freestyle wrestling, he has managed to fashion a pretty formidable stand-up game, having knocked out some highly-competent strikers over the years.
Of course, his UFC 205 flying-knee KO of Chris Weidman is one that instantly comes to mind and with ten out of his twelve wins coming through strikes, this freak athlete is still very much a player in the 185lb division.
His last outing saw him come up short against the current-champ Robert Whittaker in what was a closely-contested five-round match-up, but with an opponent in front of him, in Branch, who is also coming off of a loss, Romero has a very real chance to get his title-ambitions back on track in the early stages of 2018.
