SBG middleweight Will Fleury scored a dominant decision over Antonio Jones at Bellator 224 in his first ever fight on US soil.
Fleury’s run on the professional circuit has seen him establish himself as one of Ireland’s top rising stars and now, he has managed to make a strong showing against a tough opponent to continue his recent run of form.
We spoke to Will in the leadup to the fight – an interview that showed the Cahir, Tipperary native expressing his confidence in his ability to make a big statement on foreign soil. That piece can be read in full here.
With his record now standing at 6-1 and him now riding a two-fight win-streak, one would have to assume that a spot on Bellator’s return to the Irish capital will be all but assured if Will is fit and healthy to fight on September 27.
When the judges tallied up their scorecards, there was zero doubt over who had done enough to get Fleury was ahead on two cards by a margin of 30-27 and the other by 30-26.
