Will Fleury is set to make his return to the Bellator cage to face Antonio Jones on July 12’s Bellator 224 in Thackerville, Oklahoma.
Fleury was able to turn in a crowd-pleasing effort in his dominant victory over Shaun Taylor at Bellator Dublin in February – submitting the Scottish fighter in the second-round to earn himself his first win as a Bellator fighter.
Taylor missed weight by a sizeable distance of 5lbs for the fight and from the get-go, he slowly started to succumb to Fleury’s offense before eventually caving to the rear-naked choke finish in the second round.
After losing his promotional debut to the future UFC middleweight Alen Amedovski, Fleury was able to step up to the plate with an impressive showing in Dublin’s 3Arena to re-establish himself in the win column.
His opponent this time around, Antonio Jones, will be familiar to those who watch Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series after he faced in-form middleweight Edmen Shahbazyan, a fight that he suffered first-round TKO defeat in.
Bellator 224 is a card that will now feature a trio of Irish fighters with Fleury, Kiefer Crosbie, and Sinead Kavanagh, a group who, like those who took to the cage at Bellator London last weekend, will no doubt have an eye on the promotion’s return to Dublin in September.
