SBG middleweight Will Fleury came home with a second-round rear-naked choke submission over Shaun Taylor in his Bellator Dublin showcase this evening.
The packed 3Arena certainly made themselves known when The Lion Of Tipperary made his walk to the Bellator cage on tonight’s undercard – roaring him on from the first bell to the last.
His opponent Shaun Taylor missed weight by over 4lbs at yesterday’s weigh-ins and from the get-go, you could see that there was vicious intent in the Cahir-native’s eyes.
After a dominant first-round in which he was able to showcase many sides of his game, Fleury managed to rack up solid damage on the feet in the second before taking Taylor’s back – sinking in the choke and with that, sealing the win.
Speaking to Pundit Arena directly after, Fleury gave insight into his pre-fight mentality and how it differed from his outlook heading into his promotional debut at Bellator 203 last year.
“I had all of the trad tunes going, I was screaming my head off hitting the walls and smashing the pads.”
