The UFC has come through yet again with a pair of excellent promos for one of the year’s biggest nights, April 7’s UFC 223, a card that features a pair of tantalising title fights in the main event slots.
UFC 222 brought to the table its fair share of talking points when the action inside the t-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas was through, but with it now done and dusted, UFC 223 comes ever closer.
Three failed attempts at bringing the two most in-form lightweights on the planet will hopefully not result in a fourth before Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov get their opportunity to fight in the main-event. It’s a 155lb clash for the ages and while fans are understandably wary of getting too invested into this seemingly cursed showdown, one would hope that extra care is taken this time around and a new champ will be crowned on April 7.
One of the greatest shocks in the history of the sport came to pass at UFC 217 last year when the women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk was knocked out clean by the underdog challenger Rose Namajunas at Madison Square Garden. It’s been called everything from a stroke of genius to a one-off fluke but with the pair now signed to run it back in the UFC 223 co-main event, all questions should be answered in a definitive fashion.
The UFC released a pair of fantastic promos during their broadcast of UFC 222 last night and just like every one of their marquee fight-cards in recent times, it does not disappoint in the slightest.
It’s time to get excited!
