Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson made an appearance in the SUG 9 headliner last night for a submission-grappling showdown against BJJ star Craig Jones.
Johnson has been retired from the sport of mixed martial arts since his UFC 210 defeat to Daniel Cormier but in recent times, he has been something of a presence in the world of combat sports – or least everywhere except in MMA it seems.
After bulking up to around 300lbs and aligning himself with the blossoming bare-knuckle promotion BKFC – albeit in a role that does not involve fighting, Rumble signed to take on IBJJF World No-Gi Champion Craig Jones at Submission Underground 9 last night.
Of course, very few, if any, were giving Johnson a chance against the undersized but technically superior Jones and as you would expect, their predictions were proven to be correct before the first minute had even elapsed.
Jones, who is known for his clinical leg-attacks, was able to force the tap out of the two-time UFC light-heavyweight title challenger to earn himself a rather large and power feather for his own cap.

Rumble also confirmed to in-ring interview Chael Sonnen that he would consider a return to the UFC and MMA ‘if the price was right’.
