As we wait patiently for UFC 211 and its truly remarkable lineup of fights, the time is perfect to revisit one of MMA history’s most devastating knockout victories.
Junior dos Santos, when all is said and done, will no doubt be included amongst the who’s who of MMA’s most polished boxers and vicious knockout artists, but when he took on the ‘Super Samoan’ Mark Hunt at UFC 160, the resulting knockout caught absolutely everyone off guard.
Dos Santos clipped the notoriously tough-chinned Hunt with a beautiful spinning hook kick and announced to the world that he was most certainly not a one-trick pony in the standup department. Hunt was cleanly KO’d by the kick and after years of watching his fights we all know exactly how difficult that is to accomplish.
Junior will take on a former foe of his when he goes to battle with Stipe Miocic next month at the aforementioned UFC 211, and if their first meeting was anything to go by, the second could well be a potential fight of the year in the making.
UFC 211 is scheduled to take place on May 13 in the American Airlines Centre in Dallas, Texas and with us now just two weeks out, the official UFC Brazil Twitter account uploaded a clip of the infamous knockout so the world would be reminded exactly why this former champ is nothing to be trifled with.
