Khabib Nurmagomedov doesn’t appear to be holding out much hope for an eventual matchup with Conor McGregor in his home country of Russia. In fact, he doesn’t even think the Irishman will ever be seen inside the octagon again.
April’s UFC 223 is slowly creeping up on us and while it doesn’t seem like too long ago when the eagerly anticipated lightweight clash between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov fell apart at the last moment, fans will be hoping the fourth time is the charm when they attempt to get it going once again.
There has been a lot of confusion over the exact stakes on the line for April’s title fixture between Khabib and Ferguson but with the current champ Conor McGregor still in power, on paper at least, it does look as though we’ll have to wait for official confirmation before jumping to any conclusions.
Nurmagomedov spoke to TMZ Sports in a recent interview in which discussed the current whereabouts of the Irishman, his future in MMA and also the prospect of the two of them facing off in his home country of Russia.
McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh also gave an interview recently in which he provided his take on UFC 223’s lightweight clash.
He made some fair points about the actual need that the eventual winner will feel to defeat Conor inside the octagon to make their status as the champ beyond all doubt but still, the fans are growing impatient with this uncertain time at 155lbs so hopefully the UFC makes things a bit clearer before all is said and done at UFC 223.
