Mike Perry lived up to his reputation as one of the sport’s most vicious competitors during a tense staredown with his opponent Santiago Ponzinibbio.
It just seems as though we are being gifted with stacked UFC events every single weekend these days and with Robbie Lawler set to attempt to defeat the former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos on Saturday, fans are expecting UFC Winnipeg to be among the most action-packed fight-cards of the year.
And though a lot of the attention has been on that tantalising matchup, several other fantastic bouts can be found from top-to-bottom when reading the lineup but main event aside, none has sparked interest quite like the pairing of Santiago Ponzinibbio and Mike Perry, a contest that could well see the emergence of a real threat to the top-5 in 2018.
Perry, whose last two outings have seen him emerge victorious by way of brutal KO, has become one of the welterweight division’s more noticeable personalities in recent times and despite dropping a decision loss to Alan Jouban last year, has managed to finish each and every one of his four other UFC opponents.
With Ponzinibbio also in the process of establishing himself as one of the most violent prospects at 170lbs, the pair faced off at a recent media event and the resulting staredown was one for the history books.
