Watch: McGregor Reveals Demand UFC Must Meet To Ensure He Returns To The Octagon

The UFC’s lightweight champion has outlined exactly what it will take for to ensure that he returns to the world of MMA.

Conor McGregor’s power within the UFC has been growing and growing from the very first moment he stepped foot into the octagon back in 2013 and despite the fact that he singled himself out as the sports biggest star almost two year ago, the ceiling has seemingly become immeasurably high for the Irishman.

The success of his summer-showdown with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather was not only an unquestionable indicator of his popularity, but also of his ability to force his will into reality.

It was a record-breaking night for the boxing world and one that was, in part, the doing of an untested pro-debutant.

His habit of ripping up and rewriting the rulebook nearly ever year has seen him accomplish unprecedented success in the UFC and beyond and now, it seems as though he wants the promotion to acknowledge his worth.

Speaking at the premiere of his upcoming feature film ‘Conor McGregor: Notorious’, McGregor outlined exactly what it would take for him to make his eagerly anticipated comeback and when you consider how far ahead of his peers he is in terms of his status, it’s hard to argue that he’s not deserving.

“[The UFC] have got to entice me now because I came from a billion dollar fight,” said McGregor. “I want equity, I want ownership, I want to be a true partners in this – similar to the way I was in the Floyd fight. I was a promoter and I was a fighter, and that must continue for me to continue. Otherwise I’ve got other entities and many other interests than can carry on. Also, I’m already set. So, they must entice me. But we’re in negotiations. I certainly love to fight, I certainly have a belt to defend, I’m certainly interested in that.”

As far as his plans for now, McGregor revealed that he would be willing to fight again this year and that with his Irish fans in mind, let us know that the prospect of seeing him fight on home-soil once more is still an option.

It’s a big power play for the ‘Notorious’ one but in fairness to him, the UFC’s year hasn’t been overly great as far as pay-per-view numbers are concerned so his decision to make this move could well prove to be a lucrative one in the long run.

The ball is now well and truly in the UFC’s court.
