Michael Bisping’s fairy-tale return quickly turned into a disaster as he was knocked out in the very round against Kelvin Gastelum at UFC Shanghai.
Michael Bisping was on the receiving end of some serious praise following his decision to bounce back from his UFC 217 loss to Georges St-Pierre after just three weeks but when the octagon doors closed at UFC Shanghai, his would-be fairytale return-to-form turned into a very ugly loss early on.
Just two and a half minutes into their contest, the heavy-handed former-welterweight Gastelum connected on the Englishman’s chin with a beautiful one-two, dropping ‘the Count’ before finishing him with strikes on the mat. It was the biggest win of the former-Ultimate Fighter winner’s career and a true step towards establishing himself firmly within the 185lb title picture.
Huuuuuuuge left hand from Kelvin Gastelum! ?

This now stands as Bisping’s second consecutive loss and with a retirement in mind for the UFC’s next return to London, the clock looks to be ticking on the legendary Brit’s time inside the octagon. Two losses by way of finish in three weeks is a tough pill to swallow but for the recently-dethroned middleweight champion, he’ll know that he cemented his legendary status with his truly phenomenal rise over the last year-and-a-half or so.
