UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal is a man whose past is one that lies within the realms of unsanctioned street fighting, and if his annihilation of Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone didn’t impress you enough, perhaps this raw video will.
Jorge Masvidal was seen as an underdog to the in-form Donald Cerrone before their tussle at last weekend’s UFC Denver, but for those in the know it came as no surprise when he left the octagon as the victor after what was a dominant performance.
Masvidal’s speed, power and accuracy proved to be too much for Cowboy on the night and despite some controversy over the supposed stoppage made by referee Herb Dean at the end of round 1, nothing could stop the Gamebred fighter from coming away with a huge TKO victory.
Cerrone, up until that point, had gone a perfect 4-0 in the welterweight division, bagging himself four straight wins by stoppage but in Masvidal he faced an opponent who came at him with all the skill and confidence that he himself exuded in each of his prior 170lb bouts. and despite the odds being stacked in his favour things quickly turned ugly for the hometown fighter.
Masvidal’s roots are in the art of street fighting and in the video below the skilled but patient welterweight can be seen taking on a man much bigger than he in what was a very evenly matched and tense affair.
Look out for the cameo from the late Kimbo Slice also..
