Jan Blachowicz delivered on his promise of making things rough for the former middleweight champion Luke Rockhold in his 205lb debut last night.
There was always the feeling among those following the fight’s build-up that Rockhold was perhaps looking past Blachowicz to a certain extent – which I suppose is down to your interpretation of some of his pre-fight comments ahead of last night’s clash.
If there were any question about Jan’s ability to test the often-suspect chin of the former 185lb king, they were answered in emphatic fashion as the Polishman brought the hammer down on Rockhold hard in the second-round, leaving his opponent completely out of it before the referee’s intervention.
Watch Blachowicz’s brutal victory below:
Blachowicz may have lost out to divisional title-challenger Thiago Santos last time around, but he now holds five wins from his last six, a run that could well see him insert his name into the title-mix.
In the wake of Rockhold third defeat in his last four fights, UFC president Dana White urged the former middleweight champion to hang up his gloves – citing his broken jaw and the punishment he has taken as reasons to call time on his career.
