Watch: Iaquinta Brings The Heat To Milwaukee, Beats Kevin Lee On Scorecards

‘Ragin’ Al Iaquinta managed to record his second victory over Kevin Lee with a close but strong performance in the UFC Milwaukee headliner.

And it was a tightly contested matchup, for the most part.

Both guys traded momentum for the opening couple of rounds but by the time the fourth and fifth came around, it was the pressure and conditioning of Iaquinta that saw him take the fight over.

He was able to slowly establish himself as the dominant fighter and when all was said and done, most would agree that he had done enough to earn the victory – moving to 2-0 over Lee and to 14-4-1 as a pro.

Iaquinta’s win earned him the praise of the divisional champion Khabib Nurmagomedov – who, of course, defeated Al on the scorecards at UFC 223 to win the belt.

It was an upset win for Al in a fight that saw his opponent receiving the bulk of the attention in the leadup – but also a win that saw him confirm what many had suspected about his growth as a fighter.

I think it’s fair to say that Iaquinta gave Khabib one of the toughest challenges of his career to date and when you consider that he has only fought twice in the last 18 months – this fight included – it’s easy to see that the New Yorker is well into his prime fighting years.

Lee was the #4-ranked lightweight on the planet before last night. Where that leaves ‘Ragin’ Al in the rankings, remains to be seen.
