The one aspect of Tony Ferguson’s game that many are pointing to as one that could play a major role in defeating the seemingly unstoppable Khabib Nurmagomedov is examined in a new compilation video.
Twenty-five fights. Twenty-five wins.
When momentary slips in your otherwise flawless spell of dominance are mused over as much as some people’s losses, you know you’ve built a resumé that can be held in the highest of esteem.
At that’s how it was when Khabib Nurmagomedov’s UFC 205 win over Michael Johnson was all said and done. People marveled at the notion that Nurmagomedov was, in fact, human and for a period that lasted about 30-40 seconds, it did look as though he was in some very real trouble.
The problem with putting too much of an emphasis on a mistake that was quickly shrugged off, however, is that it does take away from the absolute mauling ‘the Eagle’ was able to dish out on Johnson before submitting him later in the fight.
His UFC 223 opponent Tony Ferguson will know that in all likelihood, he too will be taken to the ground – just like virtually everyone before him – but with a fighter like him, there is every chance that the fight could get very interesting when his black-belt in 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu is called into play.
As one of the division’s most creative athletes, Ferguson has had some pretty consistent success with his back on the mat and a new video from the YouTube channel Combat Life compiles some of his best work.
Some of Tony’s finest moments off of his back are highlighted in the video below:
