Watch: The Brief & Brutal End To ‘Jacare’ Souza & Derek Brunson’s First Fight Back In 2012

Relive the first meeting between tonight’s UFC Fight Night main-event headliners Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza and Derek Brunson from back in their days on the Strikeforce roster.

A surefire ticket straight into the UFC middleweight division title-mix could well be on the line this evening as Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza takes on Derek Brunson in the main-event of UFC on FOX 27 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Souza will be looking to put the memories of his stunning KO loss to Robert Whittaker last April behind him as he takes on one of the division’s most frightening knockout artists. Brunson’s form has been patchy since his move to the UFC but despite dropping back-to-back losses to Anderson Silva and the aforementioned Whittaker, he has won two in a row and remains one of the most underrated fighters at 185lbs right now and can find himself within touching distance of a title-shot if he can pull a win out of the bag.

This fight serves as a sequel to an earlier matchup, one fought under the Strikeforce banner back in 2012 and without spoiling the ending, tonight’s offering would do well to replicate its spectacular outcome.
