Famed MMA journalist Ariel Helwani has used his platform on the most recent edition of the MMA Hour to blast the UFC’s recent marketing direction as far as their fight-promos are concerned.
Ariel Helwani is a man who speaks his mind more than most. Over the years he has had several run-ins with the UFC’s president Dana White due to his outspoken behaviour but it’s that, among other things that have really endeared him to fans over the years.
His weekly show The MMA Hour has always been a safe-haven for fighters to voice their unfiltered opinions outside of the more generic structures of the general MMA media and for years now, some of the most high-profile athletes the sport has had to offer have been booked to appear on the show, which is broadcast over YouTube.
And though guests make up a large portion of the show, the MMA Hour is also used as a platform for Helwani to voice his own thoughts on the rapidly shifting world of mixed martial arts and in its most recent edition, Ariel went on a powerful rant about the UFC’s recent marketing direction and more specifically, the manner in which they have been portraying their champions in their fight-promos in recent times, namely the UFC’s light-heavyweight champ, Daniel Cormier.
