Welterweight powerhouse Abdul Razak Alhassan recorded an early contender for Knockout of the Year with his beautiful uppercut KO of Sabah Homasi at UFC 220 last night.
Those of you who are among the Irish MMA fans of the world might remember him best for his 53-second destruction of SBG’s Charlie Ward back at UFC Belfast in 2016 but Abdul Razak Alhassan made a pretty strong case for a step-up in competition at UFC 220 on Saturday night.
Sabah Homasi was his opponent once again after the controversial stoppage that marred their first meeting at UFC 218 and while that original bout was stopped at 4:21 of the first round, Alhassan managed to best himself this time around, bringing home the win at 3:47 of round 1.
He moves to 3-1 in the UFC, with his sole loss coming by way of decision to Omari Akhmedov, and though it’s most certainly early days, power like that could well see this guy become a force in the increasingly stacked 170lb division.
Lights out ?
