Chan Sung Jung returns to action for the first time in over 3 years this weekend as he takes on Dennis Bermudez in a pivotal bout for the featherweight division.
The aptly-named “Korean Zombie” has not fought since losing a lopsided title fight against José Aldo back in 2013 as a result of mandatory military service but will finally make his return to professional competition this weekend at UFC Fight Night 104.
And though his last bout ended in a TKO loss to the dominant Brazilian, Jung has never failed to excite the fans with his relentless forward pressure, reckless striking and crafty ground game. He holds the honour of being the first and – to this day – the only man to finish a fight via Twister submission, a tricky sub he used to finish his old foe Leonard Garcia in what was only his first UFC fight.
The twister, a variation on a move used in wrestling, was popularized by BJJ-practioner and 10th-Planet Jiu-Jitsu founder Eddie Bravo and as you can probably imagine, looks just about as painful as the name would suggest.
