UFC 235 is shaping up to be the first major blockbuster event of 2019 and from the looks of things, it could well be an all-time classic.
The first title-defense of the latest Jon Jones reign atop the 205lb division, the return of the seemingly unshiftable welterweight kingpin Tyron Woodley, the long-awaited debut of Ben Askren and the first major test for the finest prospect in MMA today, Zabit Magomedsharipov.
UFC 235 has it all.
If each of the fights heavily linked to the T-Mobile Arena on March 2 ends up on the card, here’s how the night’s action will read:
Jon Jones (c) vs. Anthony Smith
Tyron Woodley (c) vs. Kamaru Usman
Robbie Lawler vs. Ben Askren
Jeremy Stephens vs. Zabit Magomedsharipov
Holly Holm vs. Aspen Ladd
Cody Garbrandt vs. Pedro Munhoz
Tecia Torres vs. Weili Zhang
Ovince St. Preux vs. Misha Cirkunov
Gina Mazany vs. Macy Chiasson
Nick Diaz was said to have accepted a fight with Jorge Masvidal on the card but in the time since, it has started to look unlikely that either man will make an appearance.
Even still, between the pair of potentially riveting championship encounters at the top to the electric matchups scattered below, UFC 235 – if all goes well – should be amongst the best cards of 2019.
