John Phillips had a tough night at UFC Beijing today, coming up short against hotly-tipped prospect Kevin Holland by way of third-round submission.
Phillips moved to 0-2 inside the octagon after coming up against another very promising up-and-comer in the form of Kevin Holland.
Making his UFC debut against Charles Byrd would have been a tough task for anyone but after a long and memorable run on the European circuit, Phillips got the call-up.
Unfortunately for him, Byrd was able to sink in the rear-naked choke in the first-round.
This time around, ‘The Welsh Wrecking Machine’ was matched up with Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series standout Kevin Holland and for just under three rounds the pair went to war.

Holland was able to take home the submission victory in the third-round by way of rear-naked choke – a win that will no doubt earn him some favourable attention from the MMA community as he looks to get himself a ranked opponent.
