The official YouTube account of the UFC has once again come through with an absolute gift, this time uploading the UFC 229 clash between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor.
It says a lot about the dominance of the Russian that his performance was still the biggest talking point of the night even with his post-fight attack on the team of the Irishman.
The fight, all things considered, played out exactly how one would have assumed it would if they had gone into the matchup with low expectations for McGregor’s ability to handle Khabib’s relentless grappling approach.
From the first bell onwards, the challenger had very little in the way of success save for a strong showing in round three. But even still, the advancements in Nurmagomedov’s overall game were an absolute joy to behold.
In the end, the pressure, power, and endurance of The Eagle saw Conor succumb to a fourth-round submission by way of neck-crank – a win that stood as a truly impressive performance against yet another championship calibre fighter.
Dustin Poirier will no doubt ask some very interesting questions of the champ once the cage doors close in Abu Dhabi this weekend and with that in mind, relive the last outing for Nurmagomedov ahead of an event that could well serve as a real show of his ever-blossoming star-power.
