Relive Alistair Overeem’s Destruction Of Brock Lesnar In 2011

With Alistair Overeem set to return to the UFC octagon this weekend, relive the former kickboxer’s most famous win to date.

Of course, The Reem has been in more competitive contests than the one he shared with Brock Lesnar at UFC 141, but when these hulking behemoths were set to collide – there was a level of anticipation that was rare even within the heavyweight division.

Two enormous physical specimens locked into a cage together? What’s not to love there!

Lesnar at the time was fourteen months removed from a brutal first-round defeat at the hands of the two-time divisional champion Cain Velasquez.

Overeem, on the other hand, was on a four-year winning streak and for this matchup, he entered the UFC for his debut as the Strikeforce heavyweight champion.

The fight itself was, of course, an incredibly dominant display from the Dutchman as he completely outclassed the WWE superstar before TKO’ing with a brutal barrage of knees and one particularly gruesome body-kick in the first-round.
