Rafael dos Anjos was seemingly not ready to take Conor McGregor’s post-UFC Rochester jab without firing back a shot of his own.
It’s easy to forget that the pair have had their clashes in the past and that their history could well have been linked had things played out differently at UFC 196.
We all know the story and, of course, the rivalry that now exists between Conor and his two-time opponent Nate Diaz is something the entire MMA community are grateful for.
With that being said, dos Anjos was well and truly on top of the world upon solidifying his spot atop the 155lb division with a first-round of Donald Cerrone just a few days after McGregor’s 13-second KO of José Aldo at UFC 194 and when he was scheduled to meet Conor at UFC 196 – he was seen as the toughest test of the Irishman’s career to date.
Of course, things didn’t play out in an ideal fashion for RDA after he was forced to pull out of the contest due to injury.
This was something McGregor was quick to remind the world of just after dos Anjos’ fourth-round submission victory over Kevin Lee last weekend.
I guess we’ll never know, cos he bottled it, with a broken toe. https://t.co/gEGfEv9AHL

Now, RDA has fired back – taking several barbed shots at the former two-weight world champion.

It’s a rivalry that many had seen as left in the past by now and yet, ESPN‘s Ariel Helwani himself made an interesting argument for it being revisited in a recent on-site article.
