UFC 225’s interim welterweight title challenger Rafael dos Anjos has told Conor McGregor he will be there if the Irishman wants a third UFC title for his collection.
UFC 225 finally takes place this weekend and while a bulk of the attention is fixated on some of the other pairings on offer, a surprisingly large chunk of those invested in Saturday’s card would cite the co-main event showdown between Rafael dos Anjos and Colby Covington as their most eagerly anticipated matchup.
And it’s with good reason.
A lot of unknowns loom overhead going into this one but for the former lightweight champion RDA, things could well have panned out very differently had certain events not transpired.
Following the confirmation from Conor McGregor that he was supposed to fight Rafael dos Anjos in Rio de Janeiro at UFC 224, people have been clamouring to get confirmation from their RDA or the UFC about this plan actually being in place.
Of course, McGregor’s now-infamous UFC 223 media-day caused things to go south, but in an interview with MMAFighting’s Ariel Helwani, dos Anjos made it clear that he will be there if McGregor ever wants the welterweight belt for his collection.
