Dustin Poirier Picking Cowboy To Upset The Odds Vs. Tony Ferguson

The UFC interim-lightweight champion is picking Donald Cerrone to spring the upset on the streaking contender Tony Ferguson at UFC 238 next month.

The UFC 238 main-card clash featuring this two in-form 155lb-r’s caught practically everyone off-guard upon its unveiling.

Cerrone, who was less than a week removed from his UFC Ottawa clash with Al Iaquinta, has been known as the UFC’s most-active fighter by some distance for quite a while now but even by his standards, this was one helluva quick turnaround.

Given Ferguson’s style and the way he matches up with Cowboy, an overwhelming majority of fans are picking him to get the job done and yet – the UFC’s newly-crowned interim lightweight title-holder Dustin Poirier is not one of them.

“I think Cowboy wins that fight but we’ll see. I’m not even looking that far ahead. I never disrespect that work that needs to be done and I have a lot ahead of me with this Khabib fight.”

As for his own future, Poirier seemed to confirm that UFC 242 was his likely next stop.

“Everything is pointing to it happening in Abu Dhabi, September 7, me and Khabib. I’m not sure what the holdup is or what’s going on. I have no clue.”

As of right now, nothing has been made official as far as UFC 242 is concerned but earlier today, the champion Nurmagomedov seemed to indicate that he would be making an appearance on the card.
