Paulo Costa Calls Out Former-Champ Chris Weidman

The middleweight division’s most terrifying prospect has called out the former-champion Chris Weidman in an attempt to avenge the three Brazilian’s the American has beaten inside the UFC.

Lyoto Machida, Vitor Belfort, Anderson Silva.

All former UFC champs who hail from Brazilian and most importantly in this case, all fighters who have come up short against the ‘All-American’ Chris Weidman.

It may seem like a distant memory now, but there was a time when Weidman was one of the game’s premier talents. Besting the legendary Anderson Silva on two separate occasions, he really did look set to take the world by storm and in defending his belt on three occasions – including a rematch win over Silva, he did.

Luke Rockhold’s brutal TKO victory over the same man that saw him crowned as the new divisional champ, however, changed things quite a bit.

Dropping three straight – Weidman is still coming off of a win over Kelvin Gastelum but in truth, he could well be paired up against a young and hungry up-and-comer in his next outing, knowing the UFC as we do.

185lbs has seen most of its top contenders fight each other already and in Brazil’s Paulo Borrachinha Costa, you have perhaps the most exceptional and ultimately frightening prospect of the lot – a man who will no doubt be looking to break into the top-5.

Looking to take revenge for the trio of his fellow Brazilians that Weidman took out, Costa made it clear that he wants to take on the former-champ next.
