19-year-old prospect Norbert Novenyi Jr delivered on the hype and then some with a highly impressive three-round showing against Will Fleury.
Novenyi proved himself to be an elite talent in front of a packed 3Arena crowd tonight by handing one of Ireland’s most popular fighters his second loss inside the Bellator cage.
Though known for his skills as a wrestler, it was the striking of the Englishman that won it for him on the night as he scored multiple knockdowns over the course of the bout’s fifteen-minute duration.
Fleury, to his credit, was as stubborn as they come, somehow rising on numerous occasions when it looked as though he was on the way out, fighting tooth and nail to regain position – enjoying several decent moments despite being unable to do much in the way of damage to his opponent.
The pair, of course, have trained together in the past at London Shootfighters and in the lead-up to tonight’s outing, there were more than a few pointed words shared.
With this victory, Novenyi moves to 4-0 as a professional and upon taking to the mic directly afterwards, he promised those in attendance that he would be a world champion before long.
A hugely impressive performance, one that proves this guy’s pedigree and potential.
