With the door now fully open for a return to the sport of MMA, Nick Diaz sent out a cryptic Instagram post that could well hint at his comeback.
Yesterday we brought you the news that Stockton’s finest Nick Diaz had accepted a one-year USADA suspension after being found guilty of a whereabouts violation just under a year ago. The suspension is due to be lifted in just a matter of days and already, fans are eager to figure out exactly how committed Nick is to the idea of fighting under the bright lights of the UFC once again.
Being in the USADA testing pool means that you must make your location known to the anti-doping agency at all times or risk punishment at their hands. And that was exactly what Nick Diaz fell victim to after a time in which he seemed disillusioned with the ties that still bound him to a sport he didn’t appear to be overly fussed on returning to.
Sure, it’s not concrete evidence that we can expect to see the former-Strikeforce champion back in action anytime soon, but in a post made from his official Instagram account, Diaz posted a throwback to his time competing in the UFC with the caption “Back where we left off”. On the surface, it does seem to give some indication that he is at the very least willing to acknowledge the fact that his suspension is just days away from being lifted.
With it coming up on three-and-a-half years since his last octagon appearance, the prospect of seeing one of the game’s most entertaining competitors back in action might not be as far-off a proposition as one would think. The welterweight division is perhaps the most stacked in the promotion today but with the injection of the elder Diaz brother, fans are already salivating at some of potential matchups that could await him upon his return.
